Skin is the grade
Ribbonfish is bought on the silver. Intact, bright skin commands the premium; scuffed or dulled skin drops the lot a grade regardless of size, because the buyer is selling appearance. That makes handling from net to ice the whole story on this species, and it is the first thing we check on a physical QC.
GACC registration for China
Shipments to China must come from a GACC-registered establishment, and the registration number must appear on the health certificate as issued — not retyped, not abbreviated. We confirm the registration is current before a container is booked, because a lapsed number is a held container and a lapsed number is not visible in a document pack.
Cold chain and documents
Held at −20°C to −35°C, loaded into a pre-cooled reefer with door-open time controlled and the whole load filmed. BKIPM health certificate, catch certificate, certificate of origin and HACCP documentation accompany every shipment, with Trichiurus lepturus declared identically on each.

Frequently asked
Are you GACC registered for export to China?
Yes. Ribbonfish for the Chinese market ships only from GACC-registered establishments, with the registration number printed on every carton and on the health certificate.
Is ribbonfish the same as hairtail?
Yes. Trichiurus lepturus is traded as ribbonfish, hairtail, largehead hairtail and cutlassfish. The Latin name on the certificate, carton and invoice is what identifies it at the destination border.
What grades, forms and packing are available?
Grades WAAA, WPPP, YAAA, YPPP, WAA and YAA, sea frozen or land frozen, packed IWP or BQF in 10 kg cartons at 8 kg net weight. The season runs October to February, and samples can be sent by air for intensive toxin testing at destination.
Is ribbonfish the same as hairtail or layur?
Yes. Trichiurus lepturus is traded as ribbonfish, hairtail and layur; the Latin name is what appears on export documents.
How is ribbonfish graded?
On skin condition first, then size band — 100 to 200 g, 200 to 300 g and 300 g up.
Which incoterms do you quote?
Ex Works, FOB, CFR, CIF and CNF to any major port.
